Bundibugyo Resident District Commissioner, Geoffrey Mucunguzi, confirmed that police were hunting for a prime minister in the Obudingiya Bwa Bamba, Rev Swizen Kyomuhendo, who allegedly plotted the attack on Kule.

A Vision Group journalist attached to Bukedde TV is nursing wounds after he was severely beaten in Bundibugyo district on Wednesday.

The Rwenzori Regional Police Spokesperson, Lydia Tumushabe said Robert Kule had called her Wednesday but she did not give any details.

Bundibugyo Resident District Commissioner, Geoffrey Mucunguzi, confirmed that police were hunting for a prime minister in the Obudingiya Bwa Bamba, Rev Swizen Kyomuhendo, who allegedly plotted the attack on Kule.

"Kule reported to me this morning writhing in pain with swollen limbs and face saying he had been assaulted while trying to follow a story about the Bamba," the RDC told New Vision on phone on Thursday.

He said Kule approached Rev. Kyomuhendo who offered to help him the information he wanted.

"But the prime minister instead took him somewhere and mobilised goons who assaulted the journalist," Mucunguzi said.

He said he had handed the matter to police to handle expeditiously and to bring the prime minister to book.

"We are going to handle him as any other Ugandan who has broken the law, regardless of his status," the RDC said on phone.

He added, "We are very much interested in this case. We are under strict instruction by the President to deal with anyone who engages in such acts," Mucunguzi said.
