Man rapes 72-year old woman to avenge her son's affair with in-law

NWOYA - Police in Nwoya have arrested a 27-year old man for alleged defiling a 72-year old woman whose son he accused of sleeping with his brother's wife.

Richard Odong, a resident of Koch Okir village, Corom parish in Koch Goma Sub County, Nwoya district was arrested on Friday after he committed the offence on Thursday night.

According to Aswa region police spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema, Odong claimed that he raped the old woman after her son had sex with his brother's wife.

"The matter was reported to police, we went and arrested Odong, while the old woman was rushed to Anaka hospital, but most of the staff at the hospital had gone to Kampala for validation on the payroll. She is supposed to be referred to either Gulu regional hospital or St. Mary's hospital Lacor in Gulu for treatment," Okema remarked.

Okema said Odong statement is baseless; he will appear in court for allege rape on the old woman.

He added that this is the second time such incident happened in Nwoya.

Okema said in January, a similar incident happened after a man identified as General Tuk raped  a 74-year old in Koch Okir village in Koch Goma Sub County.
