So far over 18 beginners have started light training at the club already

All roads on will lead to NYTIL factory near Jinja this Saturday when hundreds of fishermen around the country will be launching their own boxing club at Uganda Fisheries Sports Gym.

The Gym's coach Ali Mubiru revealed that UBF president is expected to preside over the launching ceremony where kick boxing, body building, yoga and Boxing will all be launched at the club.

"We have invited many fishermen from other camping sites on Lake Victoria to be part of this club as we wanted to somehow rejuvenate former NYTIL Boxing Club. It's a pity that almost all up country boxing clubs have all collapsed due to financial and administrative reasons but as fishermen, we have got some backing from NYTIL Factory management that has served us with some sports equipment to start with.

We have however invited many fishermen from other fishing sites on Lake Victoria to participate in this cause both as participants and well-wishers," alerted Mubiru.

So far over 18 beginners have started light training at the club already and coach Mubiru feels now is the time for his club to attract former boxers to come back into the sport and undergo coaching and referee courses as a way of reviving the sport back in Eastern region.

‘'If our club has a steady progress, I feel that in the near future we can host Novice championships at the club, ‘'added Mubiru.
