They were called upon to uphold discipline, lest they risk being demoted

Newly promoted Prisons officers have been urged to be exemplary to their colleagues while carrying out their duties.

The call was made by Henry Natwaluma, the District Prisons Commander while speaking at the promotion ceremony of over 40 junior officers at Masindi Prisons over the weekend.

"Since you have been promoted, I expect you to fill the shoes of that rank and give us better results. Let your colleagues learn from you since you are now their seniors," Natwaluma said.

He called upon them to uphold discipline, lest they risk being demoted.

"Protect that promotion jealously.Br disciplined as you carry out your duties. It is hard to be promoted but very easy to be demoted,"Natwaluma said.

Lt. Col. Gordon Mukama who represented the Artillery Division Commander Masindi, called upon other officers to work hard and also be promoted.

According to Natwaluma, it was over five years since Masindi had last promoted junior officers.

Bosco Bakashaba, the District Police Commander advised the newly promoted not to relax in performance bur rather work harder to appease the commanders who may in turn promote them to higher ranks.

The officers were promoted to the ranks of warders, Principal Officer I, Principal Officer II, Sergents and Corporals.
