Besigye issued with criminal summons

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) former presidential flag bearer, Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye has been issued with criminal summons on charges of disobeying lawful orders.

Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said they are still waiting for Besigye to sign them.

"He has not signed them yet. We are still waiting. He is to appear before the Kasangati Grade One Magistrate Court on April 13," he said.

This comes after the Directorate of Public Prosecutions sanctioned a file that was submitted by Police on Friday.

Besigye is alleged to have moved in a procession from his home in Kasangati and was blocked by Police at Mulago roundabout after he declined to use the route which had been suggested by Police and insisted on going through Wandegeya.

He was later arrested and taken to Naggalama Police Station where he was detained and later released.
