FUFA Big League: Wandegeya beat Sun City

Ten minutes into the game, the hosts were gifted with a penalty.

Wandegeya FC beat Sun City 2-1 in the FUFA Big League on Saturday at their Kanyanya home ground.

Shafik Mulangila scored from the spot before John MacQwezi leveled the scoreline.  But Joseph Kayira scored the winner before the break to give the hosts victory.

Wandegeya will see this win as a sign of better times ahead, after recovering swiftly from their earlier defeat to Kasese New Villa FC in Fort Portal.

Ten minutes into the game, Fred Kyambadde was bundled in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. And when Mulangila stepped up, he made no mistake.

But that early delight was short-lived when five minutes later, parity was restored through MacQqwezi after Dan Kinene failed to clear the ball out of danger, leaving the home defence exposed.

But the hosts continued to pile more pressure on Sun City until their pressing paid off.

Five minutes before half-time, Wandegeya skipper Kayira swerved the ball into the top right corner after poor clearance by the opposition back.

Second half saw the visitors a more subdued side, failing to create any meaningful chances. Also, they had played a game before and so the fatigue showed in a low-tempo second half.
