Buganda princesses preside over Kabaka's birthday activities

In rare and historic moments, Princesses Joan Nassolo and Katrina Ssangalyambogo officiated at some of the sports activities lined up to commemorate the 61 years of the Kabaka’s life.

As Buganda Kingdom officials and subjects run up and down to ensure successful celebrations of the 61st Kabaka birthday, the kingdom's princesses are also very active in the different activities.

In rare and historic moments, Princesses Joan Nassolo and Katrina Ssangalyambogo officiated at some of the sports activities lined up to commemorate the 61 years of the Kabaka's life.

Nassolo presided over the Squash tournament finals played at Kampala Club on Friday and as sports activities continued on Saturday with a cycling competition, Ssangalyambogo was at hand to flag them off.

Princess Katrina Ssangalyambogo in the presence of kingdom officials flagged off the race on the chilly morning that attracted close to 100 riders that included the kingdom's Attorney General Apollo Makubuya.

"I wish all of you good luck," Ssangalyambogo said to the cyclists as she flagged them off for the 120km race.

By press time Prince Jjunju was also expected to preside over a golf tournament played at the Uganda Golf Club, Kitante, while Prince James Wasajja is expected to be among thousands that are going to compete in the Kabaka Birthday Run.
