Kadaga donates scholastic materials to Busoga candidates

Each candidate in every district is to get a free booklet

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has boosted the education sector in Busoga sub region by providing of Pre-Primary Leaving Examination booklets with questionnaires to all candidates for revision purposes.

 

The consignment of slightly above 12,000 booklets for all candidates in Kamuli district  was  handed over by the district Inspector of Schools, Ibrahim Kanakulya at Kamuli Township Primary School in Kamuli Municipality on Monday.

 

The project shall be rolled out to other districts, according to the Speaker's spokesperson, Felix Isabirye.

 

In her message delivered through Kamuli Municipality MP Elect, Hajati Rehema Watongola, Kadaga called upon all head teachers and their primary seven students to utilize the books for academic excellence.

 

"This package is a product of the partnership between Busoga legislators, scholars, elites and well-wishers, to uplift the low education standards in our sub region," Watongola, said.

 

According to Kadaga, each candidate in every district is to get a free booklet which has mathematics, english, science and social studies tests, with questions and gaps to fill in answers.

 

Kadaga said the project which started last year yielded fruits because by the graph of the performance was better than the previous years, adding that she's fulfilling one of her  2016 campaign pledges. 

 

The teachers will mark and grade the candidates' performance and later revise the work in class for them to understand and internalize the booklets' content.

 

The yellow booklets, with a cover photo of President Museveni and Kadaga's at the back not only excited the candidates but also the staff, saying that they will help them fill the gaps ahead of the Primary Leaving Examinations.

 

"Schools started late but with these books, we're poised for better performance," the headmaster of Starlight Primary School Kamuli, Ibrahim Ndufuna said.

 

Watongola said the consultancy firm which set the questions is professional and trusted, which calls for vigilance and utilization of the booklets with one heart.

 

Kanakulya hailed the Speaker for the timely intervention, in addition to the Kadaga Education Trust which facilitates needy and bright children not only in Kamuli but from Busoga as a whole.

 

Over the years, Busoga has recorded poor Primary Leaving Examinations performances, with most of the districts getting a less than 50 first grades each in the recent years.
