The 70-year -old diplomat and former Member of Parliament for Arua municipality has been recovering in Kampala after suffering a minor stroke two years ago according to family sources.

Dr. Judith Ajeani, a gynecologist at Mulago national referral hospital and daughter to Dr. Ajeani on Friday dismissed the rumor that her father had died, saying he is receiving treatment  and steadily improving.

Many reports making rounds on social media had claimed that the long serving politician and diplomat had died causing a public stir in the West Nile region owing to Dr. Ajeani's high stature and history of work.

"We do not understand the intentions of the people circulating the malicious rumors but we appeal to the public to rely on official information from the family" she said.

Dr. Ajeani regrets the absence of a cyber-law in the country, adding that such people spreading false information need to face the law.

The family is also appealing to the public for support due to the complexity of the illness.

"My father has done great service to this country but most of his work has been non pensionable and that puts him in a tricky situation, we have been trying to reach the president because right now we need support," she stated.

Dr. Ajeani was the chairperson of the service commission for Maracha district after its creation, a post he held until two years ago due to ill health.
