Kayunga NRM supporters celebrate election case victory

The supporters were led by the state minister for elderly and disability affairs, Sulaiman Madada, the district NRM Chairman, Moses Karangwa, Kayunga resident district commissioner, Rose Birungi and her deputy Yahaya Were and other party leaders who matched on the streets with a brass band.


Hundreds of NRM supporters in Kayunga town took on the streets to celebrate Supreme Court dismissal of the presidential election petition that was filed by former Presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi against their flag bearer and winner of the 2016 presidential elections, Yoweri Museveni.

The supporters were led by the state minister for elderly and disability affairs, Sulaiman Madada, the district NRM Chairman, Moses Karangwa, Kayunga resident district commissioner, Rose Birungi and her deputy Yahaya Were and other party leaders who matched on the streets with a brass band.

Business in the town was paralyzed for about two hours.

Addressing supporters at the party offices in Kayunga town, minister Madada who is also the Bbaale county MP commended Amama Mbabazi for taking legal procedures to challenge Museveni's victory.

"I thank Hon. Mbabazi for running to court to challenge Museveni's election victory and sincerely the Supreme Court has prevailed justice to our candidate by dismissing his petition," Madada said.

Adding : "The Supreme Court ruling has ended the political season and it was time for Ugandans to go back to their normal businesses and fight poverty in their households."

Madada thanked Ugandans for re-electing president Museveni noting that among the eight candidates, he was the only candidate with good leadership that can take this country to another level.

 



Karangwa asked the other seven presidential candidates whom lost the presidential elections to join president Museveni and work for the development of the country.

"I call up on Hon. Mbabazi and other candidates who lost the presidential elections to come back home in the NRM party and work together with president Museveni to uphold what has already been achieved by the current leadership," Karangwa said.

Ssalongo Byekwaso, an NRA war veteran said that he has got breathing space after the Supreme Court dismissal of the presidential election petition.

"Much has been talked about Museveni's victory and it is good that Justices in the Supreme Court have confirmed that he was legitimately re-elected as the president of this country," Byekwaso said as he jumped up in jubilation.
