POOL: Gumisiriza eyes Easter Cup

The two day event in Masaka is expected to involve the top cream of 128 men and 32 women

After bagging the Pool Master of the Table Championship last Sunday, Alfred ‘Black Sheep' Gumikiriza has promised to gun for more honour in the Easter Cup in Nyendo, Masaka on Friday.

The seed four player who stunned top seed Amos Ndyagumanawe 8-2 at Lumas Arena last weekend says he has got the momentum to carry on winning.

"I am happy I have opened the season with victory. This is a good beginning. It gives me momentum to train and win more. I look forward to better results in the Easter Cup," said the former top seed.

The two day event in Masaka is expected to involve the top cream of 128 men and 32 women.

Gumikiriza will to face a challenge as players brace for the top prize of sh1m.

Defending champion Ndyagumanawe and last year's finalist and second seed Sula Matovu are expected to renew their rivalry in the event.

The pair are part of the field of players currently sharpening their skills ahead of the event due at Club Klein.

Other top guns expected include Fahad Sewankambo, Uthman Bukenya, Humphrey Nsubuga, Oscar Ocakacon and Simon ‘Computer' Lubulwa who will have an automatic entry in the event, according to the organisers.

This will be the first time for Masaka to host an individual tournament outside Kampala.
The event is fully sponsored by Club Klein management and organized by Pool Association of Uganda (PAU).

In the ladies category, Vicky Namuyanja will be out to defend her title against top contenders like Ritah Nimusiima, Jacinta Kajubi, Sharon Mirembe and Skin Samona Queen Victoria Namuyanja is on top of the standings with 24.66 points.

The top players will earn a top prize of sh1m and sh500,000 in the mens and women's category respectively. Registration is ongoing for sh15,000 per player.
