The report indicates that towards the end of last year, the Uganda Shilling was gaining value compared to the US Dollar

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics report for the last quarter indicates that the increase of manufactured goods has slowed down by 7% compared to the last quarter which ended in December at 10%.

The report indicates that towards the end of last year, the Uganda Shilling was gaining value compared to the US Dollar which resulted into the reduction in prices of manufactured goods like sugar, cement, iron bars among others.

UBOS's principal statistician William Anguya said that the increased rate of manufactured goods is currently not worrying because the Uganda Shilling is a lot more stable than last year.

"The main product that contributed to that increase in January is sugar by 17.6%, coffee by 4.9% and vegetable oil by 14% and malt liquor by 7.8%" Anguya said.
