Delegates gear up for workers' MP elections

Nominations of aspirants to represent non-unionized workers in Parliament will be carried out today at Mandela National Stadium.

The ten delegates gathered for a conference at Namboole were drawn from the Central, Eastern, Northern, Western regions.

They will on Friday elect representatives to Parliament.

“Elections shall take place during the Workers’ Delegates’ Conference to be held at Mandela National Stadium, Wakiso District,” said Eng. Badru Kiggundu, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

In a statement to delegates, Kiggundu defines a non-unionised worker as a worker who performs services in exchange for remuneration, with a valid employment identity card, but is not a member of a labor union.
