28 Ntungamo pupils in a road accident

At least 28 pupils of Brilliant Kindergarten in the western District of Ntungamo have been rushed to Itojo Hospital after a school van they were traveling in was involved in an accident in Ntungamu town.

The coaster registration number UAJ 610H was carrying pupils from school back home Thursday evening when it rammed into the Ntungamo central market building.

At least 6 children, a bus driver and a teacher were referred to Mbarara regional referral hospital with serious injuries.

The Ntungamo traffic police officer, Emilio Kazimoto, said the accident may have been caused by a mechanical failure.

The vehicle carried more than 40 pupils at the time of the accident. Most of the pupils never sustained serious injuries.
