Niwagaba elected MP for Ndorwa East

Niwagaba garnered 19,009 votes followed by Ankunda Grace Bekunda (NRM) who got 13,731

Former National Resistance Movement (NRM) rebel Member of Parliament, Wilfred Niwagaba has been elected as MP for Ndorwa East in Kabale district.

The district returning officer, Juma Adams Shesha declared Niwagaba winner on Friday before his supporters air-lifted him singing songs of victory.

Niwagaba garnered 19,009 votes followed by Ankunda Grace Bekunda (NRM) who got 13,731, Osbert Byamukama George 678, Frank Mondo Agaba 93 and Aggry Manzi Spencer polling 31 votes.

In other provisional results, the State Minister for Economic Planning and Monitoring, Henry Banyenzaki is trailing with the former Commissioner of Transport in the Ministry of Works and NRM flag-bearer Eng. Dennis Sabiiti in the lead.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag-bearer dubbed "the Lion of Rukiga County," Jack Sabiiti is also trailing as NRM rival Herbert Kabafunzaki takes the lead in provisional results.
