Preliminary results for Katakwi district woman MP seat indicate that the incumbent Jessica Alupo the minister of Education has lost to NRM flag bearer Violet Akurut Adome.

Akurut beat minister Alupo in the NRM primaries with a margin of over 3000 votes. 

By 11am celebrations among Akurut's supporters had began while in the villages her supporters drunk local brew (ajon) as part of the celebrations. 

Akurut won in Katakwi sub-county which has the highest population of people in the district and also won in Omodoi sub county.  

Meanwhile in Usuk County, Eastern Youth MP Peter Ogwang was also took an early lead. 

The contest attracted five candidates but the race is between Ogwang and FDC's Charles Okure. 

In Toroma County the results were still not known but the main contest is between Solomon Osiya, Joseph Kolu of NRM and Hilder Akabwai. 

The incumbent Cyrus Amodoi is currently trailing.
