We shall deliver timely polls results - Kiggundu

Results of the February 18 general elections will be announced on time, Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Dr. Badru Kiggundu has said.

Addressing the media on the final preparation of the electoral process on Wednesday Kiggundu said: "We have designed a dispatch plan to ensure timely delivery of results."

Asking Ugandans to pray him as the national chief tally officer, Kiggundu hastened to caution that it's only EC with the mandate to declare final results.

He explained that: "Voting starts from 7:00am to 4:00pm, if you're still in line by 4pm, you will still vote."

EC has opened up a complaints desk with toll free numbers; 0800110022, 0800110023, 0800776776, 0800778778. The complaints desk will be manned by all EC commissioners.

Access to national tally centre at Mandela National stadium, Namboole will be limited to only accredited personnel and election officers, Kiggundu said.

He said that if a voter does not have identification, they will be assisted by the presiding officer to verify that their names are on the register.
