CAF CL: Vipers' Mutyaba ready for Enyimba challenge

The 24-year-old midfielder says his side has been training well for the tournament.

Vipers SC midfielder Mike Mutyaba has vowed to give in all his best in Friday's CAF Champions League tie against visiting Nigerian side Enyimba FC.

The fixture, scheduled to be played at Nakivubo Stadium, will be the first leg of the preliminary round.

Following the departure of Farouk Miya for professional football in Belgium, Mutyaba's vast experience in continental football will be seen as key in Vipers' prospects.

He has played for some of Africa's top clubs including Sudan's El Merriekh and DR Congo's TP Mazembe.

The 24-year-old says his side has been training well for the tournament. And save for two injuries Shafik Bakaki and Ismael Watenga, all other players are in good shape.

"If we are to beat our opponents we need to be patient on the ball and avoid aerial balls because they [Enyimba] are more physical than us," he says.

"We must play ground football.

"[Vipers coach] George Best Nsimbe is a friend to players and he listens, knows how to approach players so in that condition no player can fail to play under him as a coach."

The Uganda premier league defending champions want to win by a margin of three goals at Nakivubo in order to better their chances in the return fixture.
