Motorsport introduces GPS

Global Positioning Systems (GPS) will be introduced to motorsport to allow for competitors to be tracked and monitored.

According to rally drivers including Frank Sserugo who is Wycliff Bukenya co-driver and Motorsport Africa Club (MOSAC) registrar Helena Allum, the innovation is very good for the sport.

"This tracking system will help reduce complaints of cheating and also help drivers when they get lost. The monitoring room can notify them to return to the official routes," Allum stated during the launch of Tramigo tracking devices in Industrial area in Kampala.

Sserugo added," This is good because in case of an accident you can easily be located and the rescue team rushes to the accident scene because the system can be mapped to indicate even the actual names of village where the incident has happened."

According to Tramigo CEO, the new tracking device does not only post the location of the competitors but also their average speed which helps them during the competitions.

He added that unlike other systems, the new device helps control centre team to switch off the competitors car engine in case he fails to return to the official route.
