The Victoria Nyanza Sailing Club (VNSC) marked its 80th anniversary at their home in Kaazi on Sunday.

As a means of celebrating this historic milestone, a number of competitive activities like biking, running and sailing were lined up with the monthly mug which was part of sailing being the main highlight of the day.

Jane Lowicki-zucca shot the works on the mug, winning with the least throw out points, inspite of this being her first major race.

"I feel surprised on winning the mug and I must say this will motivate me to achieve much more in the foreseeable future," said Lowicki-zucca. Veteran sailor Steven Luswata displayed a masterstroke performance, winning the three mini races but somehow was beaten to the top prize at the end of the general race.

Paul Kaggwa came second with nine points as Jenny Rafanomezana claimed the third spot ahead of the laser open which is due March.

In another development, Ismail Ssebayiga emerged the best in the men's category of mountain biking as Mary Schockledge won in the women's category.
