The Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has urged Muslims to vote wisely during the forthcoming general elections.

Mubaje told faithfuls at the main mosque in Mbarara on Sunday to turn up in large numbers on polling day and exercise their right to choose leaders. He however urged them to vote for people who have a proven record of working with muslims.

The Mufti also urged muslims to converge at the UMSC Headquarters in Old Kampala on 12th February 2016 for thanksgiving.

"We are going to thank Allah for the successes he has bestowed upon UMSC in the last 15 years" the Mufti said.

The area District Kadhi Sheik Ramadhan Khamis informed the Mufti that muslims in Mbarara are united and that his office has warm working relations with the government of Uganda.

"With the current muslim unity and warm relations with the NRM government, Mbarara Muslim District Council is making a lot of progress in the area of development," the District Kadhi said.

The Deputy RDC Mbarara District Mr. Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenzi commended the Mufti for his exceptional leadership especially in regard to muslim unity and development.
