Veteran teacher Kasisiri's body arrives

Kasisiri, a renowned mathematics teacher died at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad, India.

The body of the director of Kampala Quality Primary School in Kikaya, Kampala, Edward Kasisiri arrives today from India.

On Wednesday, there will be a funeral service at All Saints Church at 10:00am.  Later at 4:00pm, there will be a funeral service at his school in Kikaya, Kampala.

Burial will be on Thursday at his home in Manyangwa, Gayaza.

"We are burying him here because that was his choice," said Jennipher Kasisiri, his wife and and the principal of Kampala Quality primary school said.

Kasisiri, a renowned mathematics teacher died at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad, India.

He collapsed in his bathroom on January 5 and was rushed to Case Clinic.

However, when the situation worsened, he was rushed to Nakasero Hospital where doctors discovered that he had a brain hemorrhage.

"While at Nakasero Hospital, he could see people but could not respond. He would just nod his head.

"His pressure started shooting up and doctors advised us that his condition could only be handled in India.

"We took him to India and the doctors decided to carry out an operation but on the day he was supposed to be taken to the theater, he got a cardiac arrest and died," said Jennipher Kasisiri,.

Kasisiri describes her husband as a loving, hardworking, caring, dedicated man who loved good things in life.

"My husband could not rest until he completed something. Whatever he did had to be classy. Even in class, he wanted quality work. That is why I'm going to carry on running the school. I'm determined to take his work to great horizons," she said.

Many have described the deceased as a wealthy man who welcomed everyone regardless of tribe, age, color or status.

"The loss of Kasisiri is a big blow to the education system of this country. He was such a great mathematician. We always disturbed him during holidays and weekends to teach our children math," said Rebecca Nakawungu, a parent of Kampala Quality Primary School.

He is survived by a wife and four children.
