THE inspector general of police Gen. Kale Kayihura has suspended five police officers for negligence of their duties.

The suspended officers include Hamidu Kabojja the OC Wankulukuku police station, Benson Ariho the OC Bukesa, Christine Namawuba the OC Wakiso, Hadija Namugenge the community liaison officer Nansana, Japeth Koluo the field liaison officer Jinja Road police station and all the criminal intelligence officers in Kampala.

"We are now going to sit down and rectify where there are weaknesses. I have suspended quite a number of officers" Kayihura said.

The suspension follows a meeting held with crime preventers together with regional police commanders and district police commanders where Kayihura found out that officers do not patrol the city and when criminals are arrested, they are released which has put people's lives in danger.

"I cannot wait; I must get people who are going to deliver because Ugandans must be safe and secure.  I can't accept that" Kayihura added.
