The youthful Brothers took their religious vows of poverty, chastity and obedience
The religious institute of the Catholic Brothers of Christian Instruction on has got 12 new members.
The youthful Brothers took their religious vows of poverty, chastity and obedience before the Archbihop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga and the Assistant Superior General of the Congregation, the Very Rev. Bro. Gerald Byaruhanga, during a colouful ceremony that took oplace at the chapel of St. mary's College, Kisubi, on Saturday.
They were given a crucifix, a white cassock (the official habit of the congregation), after which they were pronounced as members of the congregation.
Those who took their first vows were Rev. Brothers Gilbert Berwa (from Ruhengeri, Rwanda); Theophile Dusengimana (Rwanda); Theogine Dusengimana (Rwanda); Jean de Dieu Hagenimana (Rwanda); Richard Kasozi (Kasana-Luweero); Noel Mupenda (Rwanda); Louis Natukunda (Kabale); Denes Mworozi (Mbarara); Deo Ruhweza (Hoima); Leonard Ssemanda Wasswa (Masaka); Simeon Tibyangwa (Hoima) and Francis Baguma (Hoima).
Also during the same function, seven members of the congregation celebrated 25 years in religious life.
They were Bro. Charles Musisi (Kampala Archdiocese); Br. Adolf Mbalangu Mugwanya (Masaka Diocese); Br. Rogers Michael Kazibwe (Kampala Archdiocese); Br. Denis Katusiime (Fort Portal diocese); Br. Bernard Mwebaze (Mbarara Archdiocese); Br. John Mary Vianney Twongyeirwe (Mbarara Archdiocese) and Br;. Joseph Omukundwa (Mbarara Archdiocese).
Archbishop Lwanga congratulated the Brothers of Christian instruction their enormous contribution to national development through education. The Archbishop later presented an Apostolic Blessing from the Pope to each of the Brothers.
The Provincial Superior of the congregation, the Very Rev. Bro. Peter Kazzekulya asked the Brothers to be faithful to their vows. He also asked parents to convince their children to join the congregation, to continue the good work of the Brothers.
The function was also attended by Emmanuel Cardinal Dr. Wamala, Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa of Masaka diocese and the Vicar General of Kasana-Luweero, Msgr. Matia Kanyerezi.
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga and his wife, also attended the function.
