Teams will reach out to those who live in areas that are far from the collection centres

The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has formed mobile teams to move to Sub County and parish headquarters to distribute the remaining printed national IDs.

Col. Stephen Kwiringira, the in-charge, Operation and Security at NIRA, said the teams will reach out to those who live in areas that are far from the collection centres especially in rural areas. Previously, the distribution was meant to be at district level.

Out of the 15.8 million cards disbursed, Kwiringira said only 13.4 million had so far been issued, leaving a balance of 2.4 million cards. The authority had printed 16.4 million cards but 5,686 had errors and are being reprinted, while others are still in the warehouse.
