Farouk Miya struck once again to help Uganda remain on course to reclaiming regional glory after successfully battling a strong Malawian side in a tight quarterfinal tie on Monday.

The Ugandan skipper headed home early, before setting up counterpart Caesar Okhuti for a second two minutes after restart to ensure a semifinal place for The Cranes.

Coach Milutin Sredojevic (Micho)’s side had a limp start to this campaign against Kenya, but from then on, it was an upward climb for the record holders – with follow-up wins over Zanzibar, Burundi and most recently Malawi.

Today’s victory at Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa national stadium means that Uganda is two games away from clinching a historic 14th Cecafa title.
