THE Uganda Cranes players are hungry for an opportunity to succeed and their coach Micho Sredojevic says that they will fight all the way to win the CECAFA Challenge Cup.

The Uganda Cranes will take on guest team Malawi Frames in the first quarterfinal of the regional tourney that is set for Addis Ababa on Monday.

Confident of how the team has been improving in the tournament, Micho said that they will utilise the one day of recovery to patch up the holes that were realised in the group stages.

“I have lions that are ready to charge and prove themselves. We might be having one of the most inexperienced players but they are ready to go all the way,” Micho said of his charges, who recovered from their 2-0 defeat against Kenya to beat Zanzibar 4-0 and Burundi 1-0 and finish top of Group B.

The last three CECAFA meetings between Uganda and Malawi has seen both teams draw twice in the knock out stages with Uganda winning in post-match shoot outs and the last fixture ended1-1 in the group stages in 2010.

Uganda won 2-1 after a 3-all draw in 1989 and 4-2 after a goalless draw in 2006.
