Makerere v Ndejje -12:00noon

Usually competing teams will have a feel of a match venue on the eve of the clash but MUBS and Uganda Martyrs University went for the unusual.

The two had a feel of Namboole stadium on Wednesday ahead of their much awaited Nile Special University Football League final on Saturday.

Both teams are not giving the other chances to win the title with Uganda Martyrs team captain Emmanuel Kamya and coach Simon Ddungu dismissing opinions that playing in the over 30,000-seater stadium for the first time will be a disadvantage to them.

“True Uganda Martyrs University as a football team will be playing in Namboole for the first time but as players, many of us have been there. Namboole will not be a problem to us. To MUBS, I’m not intimidating anyone but it is not over until it is over. We are capable of taking the trophy with us back to the village,” Kamya said.

MUBS coach Charles Ayeko, flanked by his captain Ramathan Masaba at the same press conference at AUUS offices in Mengo said that, “we have no chance for the opponent. I’m not underrating Nkozi but we have everything but no time for the opponent.”

The organisers have sh2.5m cash prize for the champions, sh1.5m for the first runners up and sh1m for the third placed team.

The finals will begin with the third place playoff match between Makerere and Ndejje universities before the final.
