The year's Harvest, Mavuno Yetu was here again, for the fifth time, at the lake Victoria Serena golf resort, over the weekend.

The red carpet event that started at about 8:00pm; celebrated East African culture, food, music and clothing as usual, but also had a bit of new elements in there.

The live on ground gonja roasting; including Uganda's Rafeal Kasule and Kenya's Azra Walji were a bit of what was new. The serve and eat on arrival was also new, guests did not have to wait for long hours to eat, or in extremely long queues to get food.

So eventually by the time the event started, every guest at least had something to bite or chew on; including something to drink down, as they watched the opening performances from Crane cultural dance group, and gold melodies of Afrigo Band.

When it came to fashion, the guests celebrated the African prints, with a fusion of sheer. For the designers of the night, Azra and Kasule; it was a fusion of hard and sheer; plain hues and prints.

Azra made her point by telling us that there was no harm in being the woman you want to be; stand out if you want to; be dramatic, glamorous and chic, wear some happy polka dot prints and bold hues; add abit of hair accessories, and show some leg.

On the other hand Kasule showed us that it is absolutely amazing to be your own woman and man;define yourself; do not be afriad of being called strange; embrace metallic fabrics, leather, but also be a risk taker, fuse the hard fabrics with sheer.

At the close the event guests walked away with prizes from Serena and Rwanda Air.
