UOC trains medics on sports injuries

UGANDA Olympic committee has started a two-day training workshop for nurses, physiotherapists and doctors country wide on how to handle sports related injuries

UGANDA Olympic committee has started a two-day training workshop for nurses, physiotherapists and doctors country wide on how to handle sports related injuries.

 

The workshop that started with training skills in taping and strapping of sprains and strains is taking place at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

 

The workshop is facilitated by Lois Pohlod Sports Physiotherapist Canada and is funded by the Olympic Solidarity.

 

UOC president William Blick said that the training is going to help Ugandan medical personnel be in a better position to handle athlete injuries efficiently which will help in reduction of injuries and in return improve on athletes’ performance.

 

"What we are doing is empowering the medical practitioners with skills so that athletes can be able to get the service countrywide which will help us reduce on injuries of athletes," Blick stated.

 

The two day workshop is among the other several training workshops UOC has organised as sports administrators, athletes and coaches for the different sports disciplines.
