It's a pity TigerHead Power or the StarTimes Falcons are getting eliminated from the Pepsi National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs today.

It wouldn't hurt to have both in the semifinals considering how explosive both have been in the first two games of their best-of-three quarterfinal series.

Both have scored in the 80s in each game as their run-and-gun antics have produced the points and watching pleasure.

But, as Power coach Bernes Ankunda conceded, it has come down to a situation where both teams "have their lives on the line".

Needless to add, it's hard to call this series decider, with the first two games having been decided by a combined seven points.

For Ankunda, it will come down to the bench.

"We have to limit their starting five because they don't have a very deep bench," Ankuda said.

"I am confident we will do it, the players are motivated to prove the doubters wrong."

According to Falcons talisman Stephen Omony, sticking to the strategy will see the record six-time champions leave the YMCA victorious.

"It will not be easy but if we execute our game plan, I believe we will win," Omony explained.

"We are capable of playing so well but our challenge has been complacency. We have struggled to maintain the right focus all the time but we have to do it in this game. We have no choice."

There will be five other matches but all of them are Game 2s, including defending men's champions City Oilers' versus Ndejje and women's champions KCCA Leapards versus the Amazon Rhinos.
