Government is going to develop the historical site which was used by the Lamogi clan in Amuru district to rebel against the British in 1911.

The delighted cultural chief used the same opportunity to ask his subjects to embrace education as the only tool to achieve development in the contemporary world.

The 1911 resistance known as the Lamogi rebellion left three British soldiers’ and many Lamogi fighters dead in Guru-Guru Hills.

The former Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Amuru district, Nabinson Kidega said without unity among the benefiting community, the president’s pledge will not be achieved.

Kidega said that listening to detractors with envious minds will divert the focus of the community.

Lucy Angeyo from Lamogi sub-county said the president’s pledge was a blessing to the community.

Angeyo said school drop-outs will benefit from the technical school where they will be equipped with skills that can enable them survive and uplift their standard of living.

She however asked cultural institution to embark on sensitization of the locals so that they embrace development.
