Uganda Road Fund (URF) releases sh45b for public roads

Uganda Road Fund (URF) has released sh45b earmarked for routine and periodic maintenance of public roads in towns and designated agencies of government. The money covers expenditures for the second quarter of the financial year.

Uganda Road Fund (URF) has released sh45b earmarked for routine and periodic maintenance of public roads in towns and designated agencies of government. The money covers expenditures for the second quarter of the financial year.


Eng. Dr. Michael. M. Odongo, executive director URF said the funds are divided into two categories that include a Normal Release to agencies of government as part of their Indicative Planning Figure for FY 2015/16 and special intervention, emergency release to selected agencies that requested for emergency funding for removal of bottlenecks in some spots of their road network.

The release has been summarized below;


•          Release of sh27b to UNRA

•          Release of sh1.5b to KCCA

•          Release of sh3.8b to 111 Districts;

•          Release of sh1.6b to 22 Municipalities

•          Release of sh1.6b to 174 Town Councils;

•          Release of sh8.1b to 1,104 Sub counties;

•          Release of sh959m for Mechanical Imprest;

•          Emergency/Special Release of sh329m to selected Designated Agencies;

•          Release for Extended periodic maintenance of Town Council roads of sh500m to 20 Town Councils.

Odongo said funds for community access roads were released in full for the whole FY 2015/16 to ensure that they have adequate time to time share the District equipment and complete their maintenance programme before the end of the FY.
