THE Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Mubajje has said that thanks to the current unity that there are no reports of Muslims fighting each other in Uganda.

He was speaking during a Dua (supplication) organised by the retired senior district Kadhi and adviser to the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Ibrahim Nkanji at his home in Kaliiti in Wakiso district.

He commended Muslims in Uganda for choosing unity and development, but noted that total unity is not possible even in a single family.

"Pray for each other and work together”, he urged the faithful. "The fruits of unity are there, let us consolidate them and thank Allah for this achievement," he said.

Sheikh Nkanji hailed Mubaje for his tireless efforts which have given Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) a new face of unity and development.

Nkangi also thanked him for creating a warm relationship between UMSC and the Office of the President.

He noted that Wakiso district Kadhi Sheikh Muhammad Sebaggala had just received a brand new Pajero from President Yoweri Museveni

According to a statement issued by UMSC spokesperson Hajji Nsereko Mutumba, the former Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Ahmad Mukasa attended the prayers and Mubajje thanked him for sacrificing a lot for the sake of Muslim unity.

Earlier in the day the Mufti had officially handed over the new car to the district Kadhi of Kabale Sheikh Kaabu Lule.  This is one of the over 20 vehicles so far given to the district Kadhis by President Museveni.

The latest district Kadhis to receive vehicles are those from districts of Kaliro, Isingiro, Jinja, Wakiso, Kabale, Masaka, Bugiri and Butaleja.

The Mufti urged all district Kadhis who have so far gotten vehicles to use them responsibly.
