It has been two days of bathing suit photo shoots, up in Thailand, at the Miss Grand International (MGI) contest that kicked off on, 5th, October.

The shoot that started on Sunday, 11th, and went on through to Monday, 12th, has finally ended, and it looks like Lillian Gashumba, the Ugandan representative is not too happy with herself after all this.

"I have participated in a number of pageants, but this particular one has been rather a challenge so far. I have been fighting hard to keep relevant throughout the shoots, some poses were hard paper, but I have pressed on, and just hope for the best," Gashumba says.

Miss Grand International is an annual international beauty contest run by the Miss Grand International Organization based in Thailand; and it searches for potential woman to encourage and run the campaign 'Stop the war and Violence'.

The current Miss Grand International is Daryanne Lees of Cuba who was crowned on October 7, 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Gashumba hopes that Uganda will support her, and believes that their support will count to her success. She needs the support especially on social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), which will increase her chances of winning.

The bathing-suit shots taken were put on up on the GMI official sites, everyone can now vote for their favorite contestants. These various votes will help the judges determine who will take home the special awards of Miss popular (US$1000), best swimwear look (US$2000), and best social media personality (US$1000).

You can also like, share or comment on Gashumba's photos posted online, on Miss Grand International Facebook, twitter, and Instagram pages.

The next tasks starts on 17th, Saturday, and will be finalized on 25th, Sunday, the day when all winners will be crowned. During these tasks judges will determine the best national wear (US$2000) and evening wear (US$2000).

Contestants from all 84 countries will show off their national outfits at the preliminary show, which will be streamed live on the MGI official page. The grand winner, Miss MGI will walk home with a whooping US$40000 prize.

Gashumba will be wearing Rafeal Kasule at the preliminary show, if you attended the Fashion on Fleek fashion show that happened last month, at Cayenne, pieces from that collection will feature at preliminary show, at Miss Grand International. Kasule is a talented designer, and had some nice haute couture pieces, hope the judges will find them worthy of a win.

Gashumba has been in Thailand, since 5th, October. She has participated in a number of international pageants like Miss Tourism Oriental China 2012, and Miss Bride of the World China 2014, and walked home with the Miss African Beauty crown.

Back in Uganda, the 26 year old, and graduate of Information & Technology, Gashumba, takes up a role of a pageant couch, she teaches contestants on how to conduct themselves.

She was able to land this opportunity through her country director, according to her, he is responsible for looking up available pageant entries online, and whenever he lands on them, he distributes the details to different girls to apply.

“They are usually specifics they need (size, height and experience), and I was lucky to qualify,” she said.
