NSSF 13% interest rate

The fund announced 13% interest on workers' savings for the 2014/15 financial year, a 1.5% increase from the 11.5% given last year.

All UNRA staff axed

All Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) staff have been indefinitely terminated pending a comprehensive restructuring of the agency, according to the authority’s board of directors. Apart from the executive director of UNRA, Allen Kagina, the rest of the staff will have to reapply for their positions.

This comes days after the UPC flag was brought down when pro-Jimmy Akena (UPC president) members stormed the TDA offices and demanded the flag be brought down because of Olara Otunnu's (former party president) direct engagement in the summit. A vital document for the prosecution in the trial of the 13 men accused of masterminding the twin bombings, remains in the custody of America’s Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). The revelation was made by a prosecution witness, a detective with the New York Police assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.
 

 

 

 

 

Museveni to face five opponents in 2016

The race for the 2016 presidential elections started to take shape after the Electoral Commission  announced that only six aspirants had returned the nomination forms by the official closure of the exercise. The aspirants were required to return the nomination forms signed by 100 voters from at least 75 of the 112 districts of Uganda.

The EC spokesperson, Jotham Taremwa said the six aspirants are President Yoweri Museveni, Forum for Democratic Change flag-bearer Dr. Kizza Besigye, former prime minister Amama Mbabazi, former Makerere University vice-chancellor Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba, Dr. Abed Bwanika and Elton Joseph Mabirizi, who is representing a coalition of 16 presidential aspirants under The Independents’ Coalition (TIC).
