The Democratic Alliance has failed to agree on a joint presidential candidate to front for the 2016 elections after a whole-day meeting, The Summit, at their Naguru- based headquarters
Speaking after a tiring day of deliberations, DP president Norbert Mao, who is also a TDA joint presidential candidate, said:
"We are not ready, we need more time."
The candidates in the running are Kizza Besigye, late entrant Amama Mbabazi, former vice president Gilbert Bukenya and Norbert Mao.
After the meeting, Mao said: "Reaching consensus for the contenders in such a short time is not easy, but now we are better friends."
Besigye noted that there was a deliberate propaganda campaign waged against the TDA process, and that the media has been manipulated to cause confusion.
The candidates, after further consultations with their respective parties, are expected to meet again tomorrow.
A candidate is expected to be announced Monday.
