The Governor of Rotary District 9211 (covering Uganda and Tanzania), Robert Wagwa Nsibirwa, has asked parents and managers of schools to attract their students to join the Rotary and other service-oriented organisations, so that they can learn the virtue of serving others when they are still young.

Speaking during the Rotary fellowship of the Interact Club of Kabojja International School, Buziga, Nsibirwa also asked students to participate in community service and leadership mentoring, in order to be relevant to contemporary society.

“Selfless service to the needy and disadvantaged is a crucial requirement of civilization, peace and development,” he said.

“If you have armies of wretched sand hopeless people around you, you will never have sustainable peace even if you are rich. People who have lost hope and no longer value their own life cannot value the life of others; they will do anything to survive.”

Nsibirwa later thanked Ahmed Lwasa, the director of Kabojja International School, for supporting the school’s Interact Club.

He also decorated Menelik Limulimu, the President of the school’s Interactors.

The function was also graced by the President of Munyonyo Rotary Club, Elizabeth Bakaawa, Assisant District Governor Eve Kasirye Alemu and the school’s head teacher (secondary section), Emmanuel Opuwa.
