Construction of the KCCA FC artificial pitch is going on as per schedule, according to FUFA spokesman Ahmed Hussein.

FUFA is working hand-in hand with KCCA FC authorities to have the Phillip Omondi Stadium – owned by KCCA – upgraded to have the artificial turf laid.

FIFA gave the aid project to Uganda through the FIFA Challenge Program that will see several countries have an artificial turf pitch in a bid to develop the sport in the countries.

KCCA executive director Jennifer Musisi launched the project on August 17 to be effected in four months.

KCCA also paid taxes worth sh320m for the necessary equipment.

“The project is on schedule. It’s on the second phase of laying the hardcore basement after excavation. It has five stages and has been projected for four months,” said Hussein.

The artificial turf will be the second such playing surface in Uganda after Njeru Technical center in Jinja.
