NRM delegation holds talks in Pakistan

The Honorary Consul of Uganda to Pakistan pledges his commitment towards luring more investors to Uganda.

The Honorary Consul of Uganda to Pakistan, Prof Awais Raoof has pledged his commitment towards luring more investors to Uganda following the prevailing political stability in the country.

Raoof made the remarks while receiving a three-man delegation led by the NRM Treasurer General, Rose Namayanja at the University of Lahore, Pakistan Saturday.

“The political stability we see in Uganda is unprecedented. Many more foreigners are yarning to invest in Kampala,” said Raoof, who also owns the University of Lahore (UOL).

He introduced a team of poultry and Livestock farmers led by Ikram Qureshi to the Ugandan delegation that also comprised housing state minister, Sam Engola and communications officer Rogers Mulindwa.

The Consul told his guests that they were in the process of establishing a State of Art Radiology and a Medical Diagnostic Imaging Centre plus a Medical Training College at Masaka Referral Hospital in Uganda.

The project will cost $2.5m (about 9.2bn).

Apart from the construction, the University of Lahore (UOL) will equip the Centre in Masaka with modern, high tech and reliable diagnostic equipment.

Reacting to these developments, Namayanja commended the UOL for choosing to invest in Uganda and pledged a continued cordial working relationship between the two countries.

She also delivered special messages of appreciation from the party Chairman Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba.

She added that the ruling NRM government will ensure that the contractual obligations between Uganda and Pakistan are maintained without any negative interference.
