U-19 cricket team makes good start on Kenyan tour

The Uganda U-19 cricket side started on a high in their Kenyan tour beating the Kenya U-23 elite by one wicket.

The Uganda U-19 cricket side started on a high in their Kenyan tour beating the Kenya U-23 elite by one wicket.

Uganda’s batsmen Kenneth Waiswa and Zephania Arinaitwe were at the top of their game scoring 48 off 27 and 46 off 38 balls respectively.

“It was a narrow win but nonetheless this adds a lot of confidence to our youngsters. Kenya is a good side and beating them shows where we have reached,” said Emmanuel Isaneez, the team’s assistant coach.

The U-19 team is a select side from the recently concluded Pepsi Boys Schools Cricket Week last month where Mwiri emerged winners, beating Kololo SS in the final.

The game is the first of three trial games they are going to play in preparation for the ICC U-19 World Cup qualifiers in Malaysia next month.
