King of Swaziland, His Majesty Mswati III has hosted Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and his delegation to a private audience and dinner at the Royal Swazi Hotel in Mbabane, Swaziland

King of Swaziland, His Majesty Mswati III has hosted Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and his delegation to a private audience and dinner at the Royal Swazi Hotel in Mbabane, Swaziland.


Others in the delegation who attended the royal dinner included Prince Crispin Kiweewa Jjunju and Princess Victoria Nkinzi, both Ronald Mutebi II's children. The Katikkiro  was on a visit to the Kingdom of Swaziland.

Katikkiro Mayiga delivered Kabaka Mutebi's warm regards to the king and people of Swaziland before the two leaders discussed ways through which both Kingdoms can work together to foster development.

"By meeting with His Majesty, the King of Swaziland, we were looking for ways through which we can work together to transform our respective Kingdoms," Katikkiro Mayiga said after the meeting on Saturday.

"The Kingdom of Swaziland and that of Buganda have a lot of similarities. It was important that we meet the king so that more doors can be opened," Mayiga said.

Katikkiro later met Ugandans in Swaziland where he performed an installation ceremony for Paul Mulindwa and his deputy Lawrence Ceaser Mutyaba as Kabaka's representatives in Swaziland.

Prince Jjunju represented the Kabaka who encouraged Ugandans to work hard to contribute to the development of Buganda and Uganda.

"Part of your savings should be sent back home to develop our country and Kingdom,"  Prince Jjunju read part of Kabaka’s message to his people.

Ugandans living in Swaziland contributed Ettoffaali of sh14m in a drive aimed at supporting development activities in the Kingdom.

On Sunday, Katikkiro arrived in South Africa and started his tour in East London. Prince Jjunju who again represented the Kabaka and read his meassage which urged Ugandans to preserve their culture such as teaching their children Luganda.

Mayiga installed Prof Vincent Kakembo as Kabaka's representative to East London. Ettoffaali of UGX11m was contributed in East London.

Katikkiro will visit Cape Town on Tuesday and end his tour in Johannesburg at the Johannesburg City Hall on September 12. Musician Mathias Walukagga will entertain guests.
