Emmanuel Ociti announced his bid for the Nile Special Pool Open title after beating a strong field of players in the northern region over the weekend.

Ociti who was ruled out by a motor accident last year, proved to be at his best as he saw off Walter Odoch 4-0 in the final in Gulu on Saturday.

After earning his sixth berth to the event, Ociti who finished fourth in 2013 declared that his is ready for the title.

“I feel so good after being out for a long time. My target is to win in the final,” said Ociti.

“Many people thought I was down and out. I just wanted to show everyone that I am still Okay,” added the Gulu pool king.

Both Ociti and Odoch however, qualified for the grand final alongside Kenneth Otim who beat Henry Komakech to take the third place.

In Arua, Emmanuel Chuol led the way as he made his third attempt to the grand final after beating Swadik Aziku. Both qualify alongside third-placed Abdu Jamal.

The on-going regional qualifiers that come after the preliminaries last month will involve 40 qualifying centers.

The qualifiers will determine the top 100 players who will square off in the grand final alongside the top eight national seeds.

Fahad Ssewankambo is the defending champion in the final due on October 24 at Lugogo.
