The Forum for Democratic Change electoral commission chairman, Dan Mugarura has assured Ugandans that FDC elections will be free and fair.

Mugarura was addressing a press conference at the party’s head offices in Najjanankumbi, Kampala. He said the commission has done enough preparation for the elections.

The party will be holding a delegates conference at Mandela National Stadium Namboole, Wakiso district on Wednesday in which they will pick the party’s flag-bearer for the 2016 presidential elections.

The race is between former FDC president Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and the party’s president Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu.
Both candidates have been traversing the country addressing delegates and rallies in all part of the country for the last two months.

According to Mugarura, about 1,200 delegates are expected to be in Namboole and take part in the elections. He says transport and accommodation expenses of all the delegates will be met by the party.

Muagrura says the party has strict guidelines, which will be given to both the candidates and the delegates. Representatives of the candidates have received copies of the registers.
