THE 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Uganda Local Government Authority (ULGA) opens in Lira on Friday with cleaning exercise in Lira Municipality and exhibition at Lira Hotel.

 

The Secretary General of the association Gertrude Rose Gamwera said the two day event will involve a series of activities including a partnership forum, annual Local Government Dinner, Annual General Meeting under the theme, ‘Renewing our commitment and unity to improve local service delivery in Uganda. Acknowledging the role of partners’

 

Gamwera said ULGA is proud to acknowledge the tremendous level of growth and development that Lira has undergone to recover from the effects of the insurgency. 

 

The district is one of those that suffered the wrath of LRA insurgency which resulted into an influx of people from other districts.

 

“We call upon all our members, friends and partners to participate in this great annual event and contribute generously to its success.

 

The Mayor of Lira Municipality Morris Odung welcomed the delegates to Lira and urged them to identify with its people.

 

ULGA President Fredrick Gume said they are in Lira combined for a purpose of solidarity, share experience and see how things are moving.
