Cardinal Wamala calls for dialogue in peacemaking

EMMANUEL Cardinal Wamala has called for peace dialogue in peace making processes. This he, said goes hand in hand with putting God first. 

This was in a speech read for him by Monsignor John Wynard Katende at a dinner organised by Nile Dialogue Platform at Speke Resort Munyonyo. 

“Pope Francis set a very close example  this year when  he met the former Secretary General of Islamic Centre from Argentina Sheikh Omar Abboud and Arabayo Abraham in Jerusalem  where they prayed together for peace. This showed that the search for peace intimately speaks volumes”,  he urged. 

He thanked the Turkish Muslim scholar Fethullah Gülen for founding the peace movement which has fought for peace.He acknowledged the movement’s contribution in setting up educational institutions in different countries.

The Mufti of Uganda Shaban Mubajje said they welcomed the Nile Dialogue Platform in Uganda because it  believes in dialogue. 

“We should use peaceful means in solving our differences to prevent bloodshed. Force is used by people who cannot reason”, said Mubajje.  

The function was attended by the Pope’s representative Archbishop Michael Blume, British High Commissioner Samuel Palce.

Third Deputy Prime Minister Moses Ali, Kirunda Kivejinja Syda Bbumba, other government officials and delegations from other religious faiths.
