Over 200 newly recruited civil servants have left Kampala for Kyankwanzi National Leadership Institute (NALI) for induction training.

According to the commissioner of human resources at the ministry of public service, Jane Kyarisiima Mwesiga the new public officers will undergo induction and orientation on the values/ethos of public service for better service delivery.

“We shall orient and induct them on the values of public service and how they can fit in for better service delivery,” Kyarisiima said.

She also pointed out that the new public officers will undergo training on leadership skills as they are the ones that are going to take over the leadership of public service.

She said it’s mandatory for new public officers to undergo training at NALI since the Civil Service College (CSC) was introduced by government in 2010.

Enock Mutambi, the programme manager of CSC said the new public officers are expected to adopt new innovation practices to transform the operations of public service.

“We are going to prepare them to adopt new approaches of management to match technological changes in the rapid growing world,” Mutambi said.

The new civil servants are from different government ministries, departments and agencies.

The induction training will be opened by the head of public service and the secretary to the Cabinet John Mitala.
The newly recruited public officers departed from Kololo Airstrip in coaches on Sunday and were escorted by UPDF soldiers.
This is the third bunch of new civil servants undergoing training at Kyankwanzi.

The new civil servants said they are eager to learn about the standing orders in public service.

“I expect to know about government procedures of work especially the standing orders, there are so many provisions in it. That document is very complicated,” Robinson Oduka said.

Sandra Munduru from the ministry of works and transport said she expects to become familiar with procedures, regulations that govern public service.
