UN President Kutesa meets US'' John Kerry

Newly elected United Nations General Assembly president Sam Kutesa has met US secretary of State John Kerry.

Newly elected United Nations General Assembly President Sam Kutesa has met US secretary of State John Kerry.
 
Kutesa and Kerry discussed regional peace and security matters and agreed that Uganda and the United States will continue working closely to find solutions to regional challenges especially that of the LRA. 
 
The two leaders also exchanged views on the upcoming U.S. – Africa Leaders’ Summit due to take place in Washington, D.C. on 5th August 2014, under the theme: “Investing in the Next Generation”.
 
At the meeting soon after he was voted President of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Kutesa shared with Kerry the priorities of his term. Secretary of State Kerry congratulated  Kutesa on his unanimous election and pledged US support .
 
As president, he will preside over the General Assembly for a one-year period, starting  September 16, 2014 for which he has chosen the theme: “Delivering on and Implementing a Transformative Post-2015 Development Agenda”.
 
Kutesa was accompanied by Ambassador James Mugume,  Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Oliver  Wonekha, Uganda’s Envoy to the US, Dr. Richard Nduhuura.
