Hana Mixed has come out to deny theallegations that they are using ineligible players in the ongoing Ball Games Rugby championships at Lango College.

Richard Mayanja, the team’s official said the allegations made against their team are baseless and only aimed at disorganizing their preparations.

“These are baseless allegations aimed at malicing our team, we don’t have ineligible players. All our players were verified by the verification committee. They wanted to cripple our preps. Let them bring evidence, they don’t have it. We are even playing 14 players instead of 15,” Mayanja said.
 

Hana Mixed was yesterday petitioned for using over age players, who are said to have completed PLE in 2007, and therefore ineligible to take part in the 2014 games.

The technical committee in charge of Rugby was yet to seet later today (Thursday) evening to decide Hana’s fate.
 

Mayanja blamed the cropping up of such complaints on the laxity of the Uganda Rugby Union especially on the section responsible for Schools Rugby.
 

He said this should have been rectified during the the schools rugby super eight, but it was not done then.
 

Meanwhile, defending champions SMACK avoided meeting rivals Namilyango College in the semi finals tomorrow, by cementing their top slot in Group A with a 8-6 win over Hana Mixed.
 

Ntare also kept their chances of reaching the semi finals by beating Kiira College Butiki 32-5 while Kololo SS got a walk over after Dr Obote failed to turn up.
 

In Basketball, girls defending champions St Mary’s Kitende beat Ssaku SS 60-11 in the round of 16 to set a quarter final meeting with Jinja SS who stunned hopefuls Lubiri SS 24-22 in a tence game.
 

The second round games in girls football, and boys’ basketball will be played tomorrow, while the quarter finals and semis will be played on Saturday before the finals on Sunday.
