KAMPALA - The case in which the daughter of fallen city lawyer Paulo Sebalu accuses Pastor Peter Sematimba of fraudulently transferring her father’s property into his name is to be heard on April 7.

Court issued summons to Sematimba, Muyenga Resort Hotel proprietors and the commissioner for land registration, Sarah Kulata, as respondents to the case which Themi Sebalu Nakibuuka filed in February.

Nakibuuka – Sebalu’s only surviving biological child – accuses Kulata of aiding the alleged fraudulent transfer of her father’s property into the name of Sematimba.

Sebalu, a senior lawyer and one of the proprietors of Sebalu & Lule Advocates died on November 8, 2013 at the age of 88.

On March 4, court ordered Sematimba out of the late Sebalu’s property in Muyenga, a city suburb, after Nakibuuka petitioned court claiming that Sematimba had denied her access to Muyenga Club.

Nakibuuka also secured a restraint order stopping Sematimba and his agents from accessing Muyenga Club and she filed for Letters of Administration of her father’s estate.

Sematimba had also changed the name of Muyenga Club into Muyenga Resort Hotel.

Documents show that Sematimba, together with Juliet Nambi Nantongo, were the directors of Muyenga Resort Hotel while Charles Ssemakula was the company secretary.

Meanwhile, Police is still investigating circumstances surrounding Sebalu’s death after reports that he could have been murdered.

Police opened up a General Enquiries File number 03/2013 at the Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department (CIID) in Kibuli to investigate the matter.

New Vision has learnt that a team from the CIID’s homicide department led by Commissioner Mark Opondo is carrying out the investigations.

Sources said detectives have on several occasions interrogated Sematimba on allegations of suspected foul play in Sebalu’s death raised by Nakibuuka.

When contacted, Mark Opondo declined to comment on the matter, but CIID director Grace Akullo said investigations were still ongoing.

Sematimba, on the other hand, has declined to comment on the matter, saying he does not discuss his private life in the media.
